On the subject of zombies and survival

Ok, so I’m curious. My friends and I have been discussing our survival strategies in the event of a zombie uprising. HOW PREPARED ARE YOU?

1) What would be your primary weapon of choice? Quickly! You don’t have time to go shopping or pop to your parent’s house! You need to grab your shit and leave now! What are you taking? This must be something you own and be within your home right now.

2) Where do you go? Are you heading to the wilderness (if so you had better be 100% sure you know how to survive a winter out there) or do you have a defensible structure in mind? Will you be planning to go solo or to rally fellow survivors?

3) What is your role in the survival and/or recovery process? What contribution will you be making to the survival of society and our species? In this new world there is no room for dead weight. Everyone must be prepared to do their part or fend for themselves.

Apart from being blown away by the stupidity of people (seriously, zombies cannot function without magic existing, because a little something called the brain stops working upon death and it is pretty necessary for your body to move and digest shit), the health inspector in me kicked in when I…

The Nerd in me says: It depends on the Zombie in question. Hollywood, especially recent movies, have given us a zombie analogue which preys in the fear of science more than the arcane. 28 Days Later is a good example of this. So technically, those wishing to sensationalise this would still be within their rights to do so. The rationalist in me says: These people a desperate for some excitement, and thrive on the fear. The aforementioned movies have taught us that a zombie uprising can make for some stellar entertainment. The fiction junkie survivalist in me says: Fucking ZOMBIES! Time to break out the bladed weapons, bottle up some water and tinned food, grab the wife and head to the nearest intact defensible medieval structure (one of the colleges in Cambridge, I guess). Britons! Man the coastal defences, keep watch on the skies and give thanks once more for being an island nation! The Prometheus fan in me says: We found 2d screenings in the UK. It may be worth checking again to see if any have appeared in Sweden yet.

So, in the wake of reading this terrifying shit, Postcard and I started chatting, as you do, about the zombie apocalypse. Here are some things Postcard and I enjoy: zombie media, common sense, and YELLING ABOUT STUFF. Thus, for your reading pleasure,…
I am minded that I intended to buy more weapons. Time to get onto that.

Well, I’m sitting here in my hotel room swimming in comics and blasting the AC after an absolutely fantastic weekend at the London MCM Expo. fezbaker and I had a great time manning the WindFlower table in Artists’ Alley, which is more than partly due to everyone who stopped by, had a chat, bought things and/or commissioned us, so thank you ever so much to everyone who did - you’re all lovely, and we hope to see you again in October~ ♥
On a somewhat related note, some of you may have noticed I’ve been spamming your dashes with stuff tagged ‘Luka & Yeva’ recently. This is because I actually finally got off my butt and comicked (some all-nighters were involved), and Chapter One is currently uploading at hourly intervals throughout the night.
If you’re at all interested, you can now find ‘Luka & Yeva’ on Smack Jeeves, with more updates to follow soon. I’m so excited to finally be able to release this into the world and share it~ (And please be sure to check out fezbaker’s Tumblr and give her some love, because she is the best colourist in the world) ;u;

What a weird old life I lead sometimes

So it transpires that it a little under a week I will be interviewing Elvira, Mistress of The Dark, live on stage at MCM Expo.

So there’s that.

Don’t get me wrong, I fucking loved it. Especially when Hulk and Thor fought on the S.H.I.E.L.D Helicarrier…. it was a special moment, but seriously… the endless loki gifs and “I ship this/I ship that…”   Maybe it’s just me, but It’s getting old.

SO SAY WE ALL!

are you going to the beatles: the lost concert" movie when it comes out next month?

Curious question is curiously anonymous. How curious.

In answer: No. Mainly because I’d not heard of it, but being married to a Beatles fan may change that.

Wow. Them foxes have got VERY strong teeth to hang like that. Dunno why they’re so keen on eating the roof though.
